Scout's Swag
i received an email from Scout yesterday asking how she could get a signed copy of Yarnplay. i proposed a little trade - my book for her swag. i thought i would just choose some hand-painted yarn from her shop, but she invited me to design my own colorway!!! it's one thing to choose different colored yarns to go together in a knitted garment. i wasn't entirely confident that my skill in that regard could make the transition to choosing colors for a single skein. i chose a deep espresso brown, taupe, rose, and a fleshy-baby pink. no particular reason, really. it was just the first color combination that came to mind. let me tell you, Miss Scout is pretty quick with that dye. in no time she emailed me back with the results. it looks pretty damned good, i think. i can't wait to see it in person! what's even better is that i get to name the colorway! unfortunately, i've only managed to come up with R rated names thus far. don't ask! i have a really twisted sense of humor... i intend to knit socks with it, but considering that i average 1.5 pairs of socks per year and that i knit with sock yarn in the order in which it was received, it could be 2010 before this pair makes it off the needles! brava, Scout!

It's lovely. I'm waiting for my copy of Yarnplay to arrive. I'm thinking maybe I'll come back from Utah in November via Austin and maybe get you to sign it then?
Congratulations on the book, chica. It's wonderful! Can't wait for your second one...

I'm liking that colorway! Can't wait to see what you make from it. (I've given up on socks...they take too long.)
Also, congratulations on your book's arrival on the shelves!

Why the colorway should be called "Yarnplay" of course;) I'm loving the book! I am always into textural knits. After a few days with your book and Italian Vogue and Marie Claire it gives me so many "Off the Rack" ideas for garments.
